The position requires a person(s) who is a parent or day-to-day
caregiver who has/had a child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health
challenges, and who has experience in navigating at least one agency serving
children, preferably a public mental health agency.
TITLE: Parent Support Partner –- Regular Part-time position,
20 hrs/wk (Clare & Gladwin Counties)
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Parent Support Partner is the parent or primary
caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges
who serves as an example and mentor to other parents and is included in the
service planning, implementing, and transition process, as delineated in the
Person Centered Plan. Assists in
engaging family members and provides peer-to-peer support, education and
training to families who are receiving services. Must
meet MDCH specialized training and certification requirements within one year
of hire.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Individuals providing Parent Support services must be 18
years of age or over and must be a parent or day-to-day caregiver who has a
child with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Individuals providing these services should
have experience navigating at least one agency serving children, preferably a
public mental health agency. High School
degree or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and sufficient experience to
perform the position at a satisfactory level are required. MDCH specialized training and certification
preferred.
